Chinmayi

Chinmayi Sripada born September 10, 1984) is an Indian playbacksinger, singing predominantly inTamil,Malayalam,kannada,telugu and Tulu. She is also avoice actor  in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu films, and has worked as a television presenter and a radio jockey as well. She is the founder and CEO of a translation services company called Blue Elephant. She was nominated for the National film Award  for best female playback singer for the song "Oru Deivam thantha Poove" from kannathil Muthamital,  but subsequently lost to shreya ghoshal.

Early life and background

Chinmayi's mother, T. Padmhasini, a singer and musicologist, taught her Carnatic music and Hindustani classical music. After her birth and early childhood in Mumbai, Chinmayi relocated to Chennai, where she attended the Children's Garden school until the age of 10. She was then enrolled at Hindu Senior Secondary School, Indira Nagar and went on to complete her school education through home study modules.
Chinmayi received the CCRT Scholarship for Young Talent for Carnatic Music from the Government of India at age 11. [1] She won the gold medal from All India Radio for Ghazals in 2000 and the Silver for Hindustani Classical Music in 2002. She learned German as a language in the Max Mueller Bhavan in Chennai and completed certification courses from NIIT and SSI in web design. During her school life, she held jobs with both Sify and studentconcepts.org. Chinmayi currently holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of Madras.
Chinmayi is a polyglot; apart from Tamil and English, she speaks Telugu, Hindi and German fluently. [2]

Career

Singing

Playback singing

She participated and won the singing competition of Sun TV, Saptasawarangal, following which she was introduced by Singer Srinivas to film composer A. R. Rahman. Chinmayi's playback singing career began with her performance of Rahman's "Oru Deivam Thanta Poove" for the film Kannathil Muthamittal. After a couple of years of singing exclusively for Tamil, Telugu, Tulu and Malayalam films, she made her Bollywood debut in Mangal Pandey: The Rising with the song "Holi Re". About a year later, she garnered more recognition with her performances of "Tere Bina" and "Mayya" in the movie Guru. In 2007, the song "Beda Beda" marked her first venture into Kannada playback singing. She has since received critical acclaim for songs such as "Sahana", Mayya Mayya, "Vaarayo Vaarayo",[3] "Anbil Avan",[4] "Maiyya Yashoda", "Madhno",[5] "Kilimanjaro"," Asku Laska","Nenjil Nenjil", and "Sara Sara Saarakathu".

Voice acting

Chinmayi turned a voice actor for the Tamil film Sillunu Oru Kadhal (2006), speaking dubbing for actress Bhumika Chawla. Since then, she has dubbed for several lead actresses in Tamil films, including Tamannaah Bhatia, Sameera Reddy, Samantha and Trisha Krishnan. She has also provided her voice in dubbed Telugu films. She dubbed for the critically acclaimed fictional character Jessie who was portrayed by Trisha in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya. The same character appeared in the film's Telugu version Ye Maaya Chesave and was portrayed by Samantha, while being portrayed by Amy Jackson in the Hindi version Ek Deewana Tha. Chinmayi dubbed for the character in all three films and won the Nandi Award for Best Female Dubbing Artist for Ye Maaya Chesave in 2010. Recently, Chinmayi dubbed in Vettai for Sameera Reddy. Chinmayi has dubbed for Sameera in all of her Tamil movies.

Television and radio

Chinmayi served as a television presenter during the first season of Airtel Super Singer on STAR Vijay that was aired between April and August 2006 and the first season of Airtel Super Singer Junior from February 2007 to July 2007. In 2008, she returned as host of the third season of Airtel Super Singer, though she discontinued her role before the completion of the season, as she stated the show extended the period of the initial contract. During this time, she was also a radio jockey on Aahaa FM 91.9 in Chennai, on a breakfast show titled Aahaa Kaapi Klub. She later began compering Star Plus's Chhote Ustaad, which ran concurrently with another music talent show she started hosting in June, Sun TV's Sangeetha Maha Yuddham. On August 15, 2010, Chinmayi announced that that day's Chhote Ustaad would be her last as host, leaving the show after only eight episodes.

Entrepreneurship

Chinmayi serves as the CEO of Blue Elephant, a translation services company she founded in August 2005. The company has ever since been the language service provider for various Multinational companies like Scope E Knowledge, Ford, Dell, Ashok Leyland, Reliance India, to name a few. She received an award from SAARC Chamber for Women Entrepreneurship for Excellence in a niche industry for Blue Elephant in 2010.[7] In 2011, she became the first ever woman entrepreneur from Tamil Nadu to be selected for the prestigious FORTUNE/U.S. State Department Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership Program.[8][9]

Shankar Mahadevan


Shankar Mahadevan is an Indian music composer and singer. He is a part of the Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy trio team that composes for Indian films and a playback singer.

Early life

Shankar Mahadevan was born and raised in Chembur, a suburb of Mumbai,[1] to a Tamil Iyer family from Palakkad, Kerala.[2] He learned Hindustani classical music and Carnatic music in his childhood and started playing the veena at the age of five. He studied under Srinivas Khale, a well known Marathi music composer. He went to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School in Chembur. He subsequently attended SIES College in Sion and completed his HSC. He graduated in 1988 with a degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering from Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology in Navi Mumbai under the auspices of Mumbai University. He worked as a software engineer for Oracle.

Career

After working for a while for Leading Edge Systems, Shankar ventured into the field of music.[3] He earned his first award as a playback singer in a Tamil movie, collaborating with A. R. Rahman and winning a National Film Award for his song in Kandukondain Kandukondain. A prominent star in the Kodambakkam film industry, he gained further recognition upon the release of his first music album, Breathless, in 1998. The title track of the album had been prepared in such a manner that it is sung without any break, so it appears to be sung in one breath and thus the title "Breathless". He later got into music direction and became a part of the Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy trio, composing music for Hindi films.
Before his entire film music sojourn started, Shankar Mahadevan was part of the Indo-Swedish fusion jazz band Mynta.[citation needed]
He has sung in many films for A. R. Rahman, Anu Malik and other music directors, performing songs like "Urvashi Take It Easy" from Humse Hai Muqabla (1995), "I Love You" from Auzaar (1997), "Kay Sera Sera" from Pukar (2000) and many more songs in the nineties. Most of the songs sung by him in Hindi are composed by him (as part of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy). He has sung numerous songs in Tamil for a multitude of composers, ranging from veterans to newcomers. He has also sung in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi and other regional languages. In Marathi he has sung for noted composers like Shridhar Phadke and Ajay-Atul.
He enjoyed a successful run with the fusion jazz band SILK with Louis Banks on keyboards, Sivamani on percussion, Sridhar Parthasarathy on mridangam and Karl Peters on bass guitar.
Shankar Mahadevan has also provided vocals for several songs by the band Remember Shakti, which features musicians including, Musician Zakir Hussain, Musician Chandan Sharma, Musician John McLaughlin, U. Srinivas and V. Selvaganesh. He was music director for the famous "School Chale Hum" song on Doordarshan.
He was a mentor on Zee TV's musical reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009.
He is a team captain, judge, and mentor on Star Plus's musical show Music Ka Maha Muqqabla for the team [[Music Ka Maha Muqqabla#Maggi Pazzta Shankar's Rockstars[5]|Shankar's Rockstars]]; his team won Music Ka Maha Muqqabala 2010.
In March 2009 he performed at Ragam 09, an intercollegiate cultural festival hosted by the National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NITC) in Kerala.
In February 2010 he performed at Kuruksastra 10, an intercollege cultural festival hosted by the SASTRA University, Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu.
In September 2008 and 2010 he performed at PULSE, India's Second largest Inter-college Festival at All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
In March 2011 he started the Shankar Mahadevan Academy. The Academy offers tutorials and virtual vocal courses in Carnatic and Hindustani classical music, religious chanting, Indian folk music, and Bollywood songs.[4]
Shankar was Invited by the UNESCO and the US state Dept to perform at UN general assembly hall for the finale of the International Jazz festival held on 30 April 2012.
As of 2012, Shankar is currently mentoring Zee TV's musical reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2012.

Personal life

Hemachandra was born on June 2, 1988, in Hyderabad, India, in a Telugu Brahmin family. He got trained in Carnatic music under his mother Vedala Sasikala Swamy andHindustani music at Government Music college, in Hyderabad. He did his schooling from All Saints High school, Hyderabad and completed his Bachelors in Animation and Multimedia. He is the first cousin of N.C. Karunya.
